Fishing Locations and Seasons
Starting in early spring, the target species for Danny Boy Charter Fishing is the massive Walleye run into the Detroit River. The technique of vertical jigging is used which requires precision boat control to maximize the catching potential of these fish.
Later in the spring and early summer, the Charter locations focus more on the Saginaw Bay area using a slow trolling method, and in some cases, based on wind conditions, a drift method is used. Toward late summer and early fall, the Salmon and Trout of Lake Michigan are the target species. Although these are the prime locations of our fishing charters, we are adjusting our fishing locations based on weather, fish stock, and customer feedback. Our Fleet
Danny Boy 3 is a 34 ft Baha King Cat. It can comfortably fish up to 6 people and is custom equipped for Walleye fishing. The boat is powered by twin 450 HP engines and features a private bathroom, a galley, a lounge area, and a flybridge. The large deck provides plenty of room for kids and adults to reel in fish with ease.
Danny Boy 2 is a 24 ft Sylvan with a cuddy cabin and porta-potty and is used for trolling for Walleye in Saginaw Bay in June and July and Lake Michigan when the Salmon fishing heats up in late summer.
Danny Boy 1 is an 18 1/2 ft Sylvan which is large enough to comfortably fish three fishermen plus the Captain. It is small enough to allow for the precision boat control needed for vertical jigging in the Detroit River. Boat control is a key ingredient in producing limit catches of Walleye in this body of water. Its customized layout and equipment make it the ideal boat for producing trophy-sized Walleye during the spring run.
